Who were the Scottish agricultural implement makers in 1949?

The 1960s saw a significant decline in the number of Scottish agricultural implement and machine makers. By the end of that decade a number of the key names that had been known and renowned were no longer in existence.

If we look back to the immediate post-war era, and to 1949, the picture was very different. There was a good number of Scottish makers, some of whom included names that had been around from the mid-nineteenth century or even earlier. It is worth recounting the names of these makers.
